Now, maybe more than ever, social media offers an excellent opportunity for business owners to connect with their customers. It is especially useful if you are a small business with a limited budget - where else could you potentially connect with so many people?
But I know that it can seem overwhelming and so I’ve written this short article offering you my top five tips on making the most out of social media for your business.
1. Set Objectives
Think about what it is that you want your social media to do for your business. If you just randomly create and post content your audience will be left confused. If you don’t know what you want out of social media, how can you measure if it is working for you?
2. Be Yourself
Not to sound cliched, but it is vital to be authentic. If you try to be someone / something that you’re not you are sure to get found out. Social media allows you to show your expertise, whether that is as an expert make-up artist, photographer or accountant. At the end of the day people buy from people so show your personality - and I bet that will help increase your following with the right audience as they will be your people.
3. Right Place, Right Time
You don’t need to be everywhere at once. Pick the social media platform that suits you and your business best; and be consistent on it. There is no better way to stay in front of people’s mind if you’re visible.
4. Audience First
Put your customer first. When you’re creating content on social media think about what your customer wants and needs right now. That way you will create content that is relevant, interesting, engaging and of value.
5. Community Manager
I just love this term “Community Manager”. I’m in a few Facebook Groups and the ones that standout to me are the ones that have a Community Manager - someone curating content and starting conversations. Consider appointed a team member to be a “Community Manager” someone who really gets your business.
