Five Steps To Creating A Google My Business Listing

Google My Business is one of the most important digital tools you can use when starting and scaling your business. Search is digital and so if you want your business to be found online then you need a Google My Business listing.

They are FREE to set up, easy to manage and you can personalise the content to suit your business. They are great for keeping your customers informed and up-to-date, for example changing opening hours, new offers or upcoming events can all be published on your listing.

This is a great place to get what is often referred to as “social proof” – meaning your customers leave a positive review of their experience with your service or product. Trust and customer confidence are key decision making factors before making a purchase. 

Here are the five steps to follow to set up your FREE Google My Business listing: 

Step One

Create a Google account. Or if you already have one sign in – just make sure that you use your business email address. 

Step Two

Add your business name and the category appropriate for your business. 

Step Three

Add your business location. This will either be a physical address for bricks and mortar premises or a service area for others. 

Step Four

Complete the contact information, opening hours, add photographs of the front of your shop (if relevant) or images that best represent your business. 

Step Five

Finish and verify your listing.

Once your listing is verified it is time to manage your Google My Business listing.
